A bold and flavorful take on shrimp burgers! Made with Creole-seasoned shrimp patties and topped with a tangy remoulade sauce, these burgers are served on buttery brioche buns with crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and tangy pickles for the ultimate seafood sandwich.

Ingredients

For the Shrimp Patties:

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and tails removed (roughly chopped)

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 egg beaten

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 cup chives, finely chopped

  • 1 shallot, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tsp salt

  • a few grinds of fresh cracked black pepper

  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Remoulade Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp capers, rinsed and chopped

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 1/2 tsp Creole seasoning

  • 1 small shallot, finely minced

  • 2 tbsp finely chopped pickles or pickle relish

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • 4 brioche buns, toasted

  • 4 lettuce leaves (butter or romaine)

  • 4 tomato slices

  • 4 dill pickle slices

Instructions

1. Prepare the Shrimp Patties:

  • Blend Shrimp: Add half the shrimp to a food processor and pulse until it forms a coarse paste.

  • Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shrimp paste, the remaining chopped shrimp, panko breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, chives, cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, beaten egg, and salt and pepper.

  • Shape Patties: Divide the shrimp mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place the patties on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.2. Prepare the Remoulade Sauce:

  • Mix Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Creole seasoning, capers, shallots, and chopped pickles. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

2. Cook the Shrimp Patties:

  • Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  • Cook Patties: Add the chilled shrimp patties to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F). Remove from the skillet and set aside.

3. Assemble the Burgers:

  • Prepare Buns: Toast the brioche buns lightly in the a pan with butter.

  • Layer the Burger: Spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Add a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and a dill pickle slice. Place a shrimp patty on top, then drizzle more remoulade sauce over the patty. Finish with the top half of the bun.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the shrimp burgers immediately with your favorite sides, like sweet potato fries or a crisp coleslaw.
