Salisbury Steak, Mashed Potatoes, and Garlic Green Beans
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Gravy:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small yellow onion, sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire
Salt & pepper
Optional: fresh thyme
Instructions:
Mix steak ingredients and form into 4 patties.
Sear patties in a skillet until browned. Set aside.
Sauté onions and mushrooms until golden. Add butter + flour to make a roux.
Slowly whisk in broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until thick.
Return patties, simmer 10–15 min until cooked through.
Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chunked
4 tbsp butter
1/2 cup warm heavy cream
1/4 cup sour cream
Salt & white pepper
Instructions:
Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and steam dry.
Mash with butter, then stir in cream and sour cream.
Season to taste. Top with butter or fresh chives to serve.
Garlic Green Beans with Shallots
Ingredients:
1 lb green beans, trimmed
2 tbsp butter
1 small shallot, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt & pepper
Optional: lemon juice
Instructions:
Blanch beans 2–3 min. Shock in ice bath.
Sauté shallots + garlic in butter.
Add beans, toss to coat. Squeeze juice from half a lemon.
Season and serve warm.
